Successful social movements

Citizen-initiated conversations with other citizens is an important aspect of the field of D&D.

Last October, C2D2 and People’s Food Policy Project held a teleconference to ask questions like: How can these conversations contribute to recreating government institutions that are more meaningfully inclusive of citizens and enable their involvement in policy development? Participants shared stories about social movements (grassroots citizen engagement projects) that have successfully impacted policy, including ideas about using social media, report cards, bringing together different groups of people, creating policy groups, consultations, developing grassroots excitement, etc. Click here to see the notes (PDF document).
