Roadmap: 2030 is a new kind of discussion about engaging citizens and communities in political and public policy. It isn’t searching for why, but looking toward how. How does the public sector reach, engage and reflect an increasingly diverse Canada? How can diverse Canadians shape public and political policy? How does Canada’s media both inform and engage the new Canada, and influence policy decisions?

Roadmap: 2030 is a two-day gathering of social innovators, public servants, political parties, media practitioners, think-tanks and academics. Participants of the event will share best practices and learn about innovations in public engagement. Roadmap: 2030 will be a place where media, the public sector and diverse communities develop a framework for creating public policy which reflects, includes and engages the Canada of today and tomorrow.

Why 2030?
Statistics Canada has released demographic projections that show that the Canada of the 2030s will be very different from what we now know, with foreign-born Canadians expected to account for over a quarter of the population, and visible minorities representing one third of the population.

This change will need to be reflected in our public policy, media, and public and political sectors. The question is, how? How do we get from where we are now to 2030, and how do we all – community leaders, innovators, public servants, political parties and academics – work together to shape reflective and representative policy that serves the changing needs of a changing Canada?
